Breast Lift
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Tampa and Lakeland, FL

A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that aims to improve the shape, position, and appearance of the breasts. (1)
The effects of time, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, and more can alter the appearance of the breasts in ways that are difficult to address without professional treatment. Over time, the skin loses elasticity, the tissue weakens, and the breasts may begin to sag or droop. For many women, these changes can make it difficult to feel confident.
This procedure removes excess skin, lifts the breasts, and repositions the nipple-areolar complex, restoring balance and proportion. At Finer You, Dr. Jacob Gerzenshtein specializes in performing breast lift procedures that are designed to meet the specific goals of each patient. By combining precision, surgical expertise, and an artistic eye, Dr. Gerzenshtein helps women achieve firmer, uplifted breasts that look natural and harmonize with their figure.

About Breast Lift
A breast lift is a cosmetic procedure that elevates sagging breasts to restore a more youthful contour. (2) Unlike augmentation, which increases size, mastopexy focuses on correcting droopiness. The procedure is highly customizable and can address mild, moderate, or severe sagging depending on the technique used.
During a breast lift, incisions are strategically placed to remove excess skin, reshape the breast mound, and elevate the nipple-areolar complex to a higher, more natural position. For women whose areolas have become stretched or enlarged, the procedure can also reduce their size. The outcome is a firmer, perkier breast shape that enhances the entire figure.
There are several techniques available for a breast lift. The periareolar technique, or “donut lift,” involves an incision around the areola and is ideal for patients with mild sagging. The vertical technique, often called the “lollipop lift,” involves an incision around the areola with a line extending vertically down to the breast crease, which allows for more substantial lifting and reshaping. The inverted-T, or “anchor lift,” adds a horizontal incision along the crease, providing the most dramatic correction for significant sagging. (2) Dr. Gerzenshtein works with each patient to select the technique that best matches each patient’s anatomy and goals.
Benefits
When performed by an experienced professional such as Dr. Gerzenshtein, a breast lift provides several aesthetic and personal benefits. Advantages include:
- Elevation of sagging breasts to a higher, more youthful position
- Repositioning of the nipple-areolar complex for a balanced appearance
- Reshaping of the breast mound for improved roundness and firmness
- Reduction of stretched or enlarged areolas to a natural size
- Increased comfort and confidence both in and out of clothing
Ideal Candidates
The best candidates for a breast lift are women who are healthy, motivated, and realistic about what the procedure can achieve. Typically, ideal candidates tend to have:
- Sagging or drooping breasts caused by aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuations
- Nipples that fall below the breast crease or point downward
- Enlarged or stretched areolas that need reshaping
- Good overall health and non-smoking status for optimal healing
- A stable body weight and realistic expectations about results
Because a breast lift can appeal to a wide range of potential candidates, your eligibility for a breast lift will ultimately be determined during your personal consultation.
Personal Consultation
A consultation with Dr. Gerzenshtein provides the opportunity to create a treatment plan tailored to each patient. During this appointment, we will assess breast shape, skin elasticity, and the degree of sagging. Dr. Gerzenshtein will also discuss each patient’s desired results and recommend the most appropriate surgical technique. This is also the time to determine whether a breast lift alone will achieve the desired outcome or if combining the lift with additional procedures, such as breast augmentation, will provide a more complete enhancement. By the end of the consultation, patients will have a clear understanding of the procedure, recovery, and anticipated results.

Preparation
Preparing properly for a breast lift helps minimize risk and promotes a smooth recovery. Dr. Gerzenshtein provides each patient with personalized instructions, which often include:
- Avoiding certain supplements and medications that can thin the blood
- Stopping nicotine usage and alcohol consumption at least several weeks before and after surgery
- Completing required lab work or receiving medical clearance (if necessary)
- Arranging for someone to drive them home after surgery and assist for the first 24 to 48 hours
- Preparing the home with supportive garments and any needed recovery supplies
Procedure
A breast lift is typically performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Gerzenshtein will make strategically placed incisions based on the details established during the consultation process. Through these incisions, excess skin is removed, and the underlying breast tissue is reshaped and tightened. He will then reposition the nipple-areolar complex to a higher area on the breast mound to create a youthful, natural appearance. He can also adjust the size and shape of the nipple-areolar complex if necessary.
Once the breast mound is reshaped and elevated, Dr. Gerzenshtein will then close the incisions with sutures and will dress the breasts with bandages and a supportive surgical bra. The procedure typically takes two to three hours, depending on the extent of correction required. Patients are monitored as they recover from anesthesia and are usually able to return home the same day.
Recovery
Recovery from a breast lift varies from patient to patient, but most find that the initial discomfort, swelling, and bruising improve significantly within the first week. Prescription pain medication may be used at first, followed by over-the-counter options as healing progresses. Dr. Gerzenshtein and his staff will provide each patient with detailed recovery instructions. Patients are usually able to return to work and light activities after about one week, but they should avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for four to six weeks. Follow-up visits with Dr. Gerzenshtein allow him to monitor healing and ensure that the breasts are settling as planned.
Results

The results of a breast lift are often visible immediately after surgery, although swelling and bruising may initially mask the outcome. Over the next several weeks, the breasts settle into a more natural shape and position, resulting in firmer, more youthful breasts with improved contour and proportion.
Breast lifts are associated with high patient satisfaction rates. (3) While aging will continue, the results of a breast lift are typically long-lasting and can be preserved with stable weight and proper breast support.
Corresponding and Combination Procedures
One of the appealing aspects of breast lifts is how they can be combined with other procedures. Many patients will combine their breast lift with procedures like:
Breast Augmentation
A breast lift restores youthful position, but it does not increase breast volume. Many women choose to combine their lift with breast augmentation to add fullness and achieve a more dramatic enhancement. Together, these procedures provide both lift and volume for comprehensive results. Our practice also offers a specialized, innovative breast augmentation with lift.
Breast Reduction
For women with overly large breasts in addition to sagging, a breast lift can be combined with breast reduction surgery. This combination reduces the size of the breasts while lifting and reshaping them, improving both aesthetics and physical comfort.
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens the abdominal muscles, complementing a breast lift for patients who want to rejuvenate both the chest and abdomen. This combination is especially popular among women after pregnancy or significant weight loss.
Liposuction
Liposuction can be added to contour surrounding areas such as the bra line, flanks, or underarms. By refining these areas, liposuction enhances the overall body contour and helps the breast lift results look even more balanced.

FAQ
How long do breast lift results last?
Breast lift results are long-lasting, often providing improvement for many years. However, natural aging and gravity will continue to affect the breasts over time.
Will a breast lift increase my breast size?
A breast lift reshapes and elevates the breasts but does not significantly change their size. Some patients feel their breasts look smaller due to the removal of excess skin. If additional volume is desired, implants can be added during the same procedure.
Can I breastfeed after a breast lift?
Many women are still able to breastfeed after a breast lift, but it depends on the surgical technique and individual anatomy. Patients planning future pregnancies should discuss this with Dr Gerzenshtein during consultation.
How long is the recovery time after a breast lift?
Most patients return to light activities within one week, but strenuous activity and exercise should be avoided for four to six weeks. Full recovery and settling of the breasts into their final shape typically take a few months.
Can I combine a breast lift with implants?
Yes! Many patients choose to combine a lift with breast augmentation for enhanced volume and shape.
Is scarring noticeable?
Some scarring is inevitable, but we use advanced closure techniques and provide scar care support to help them fade over time.
How long do results last?
Breast lift results are long-lasting—especially with good skin care and weight stability. Natural aging will still occur but at a much slower rate.
