Preparation

Once you have established your treatment plan, the preparation phase begins. Dr. Gerzenshtein will give each patient preoperative instructions that may include avoiding medications and supplements that can thin the blood, stopping nicotine use and alcohol consumption several weeks before surgery, and arranging for transportation and postoperative assistance (if necessary). Procedure

Once you are placed under general anesthesia, Dr. Gerzenshtein begins breast augmentation by making carefully planned incisions, often in the inframammary fold beneath the breast, around the edge of the areola, or in the armpit. Once the incision is made, a pocket is created either above the chest muscle (subglandular), below the muscle (submuscular), or partially beneath the muscle (dual-plane). The dual-plane method often provides the most natural-looking results, combining the soft tissue coverage of submuscular placement with the enhanced lower breast fullness of subglandular placement.

Recovery
