Can Glasses Be Worn After Revision Rhinoplasty Surgery?

If bone repositioning was not done, glasses may be worn as usual. For all other revision rhinoplasty cases, glasses my rest on top of the external nasal splint while it is in place. After the splint is removed, glasses should not be allowed to rest directly on the nose for one month, or a total of six weeks from the time of revision rhinoplasty.

What is Revision Rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that is performed to correct or revise previous nasal surgeries that were not successful. It is also known as secondary nasal reshaping or corrective nose surgery. The goal of revision rhinoplasty is to improve the appearance and function of the nose, while addressing any issues that may have occurred during the initial surgery.

Can You Wear Glasses After The Surgery?

One of the common concerns after revision rhinoplasty is whether glasses can be worn. The answer is yes, but it depends on several factors. During the recovery period, it is important to avoid any pressure on the nose. Glasses with nose pads can be worn after the splint is removed, usually after 7-10 days. If the nose is still swollen, it may be uncomfortable to wear glasses for an extended period. Patients may need to secure glasses without placing pressure on the nose using tape or other methods in some cases.

Other Considerations After Surgery

Revision rhinoplasty is a complex procedure, and the recovery process can take several months. After surgery, patients should avoid activities that can cause trauma to the nose. These activities may include contact sports or strenuous exercise and should be avoided for at least six weeks. During the healing process, it’s important to avoid sun exposure because the skin may be sensitive to UV rays.

In conclusion, glasses can be worn after revision rhinoplasty surgery, but it is important to follow the surgeon’s instructions and avoid any pressure on the nose during the recovery period. If you have any concerns or questions about wearing glasses after secondary nasal reshaping, consult with your surgeon for personalized advice.
